Last year, Beyonce performed at Coachella, making history as the first black woman to headline the iconic California music festival. Her impressive performance left a lasting impression that lingers a year on.
Coachella has decided to commemorate Beychella in the best way possible. Her stage has been erected in the middle of the campground as a memorial of her performance. It is a two-storey, yellow pyramid: a formidable piece of any 2019 Coachella experience. Festival-goers can snap photos on the yellow runway that lies under the stage lighting: it is the Beychella Experience.
A full year on from Beyonce’s historic Coachella set on April 14th, 2008, we still can’t stop thinking about her performance. Those vocals! Those looks! That choreography! DESTINY’S CHILD! It was a true show: with hundreds of dancers, multiple outfit changes. She also remained a political advocate, with homecoming tributes to historically black colleges.
Beyonce truly is having a moment. She just announced a lifetime partnership with Adidas, and the memorial at Coachella is part of an Adidas pop-up at the festival. No wonder that this Wednesday, a Netflix Special entitled Homecoming will premiere featuring footage from Beyonce’s performance.
